Dear Friends,

Every night I give thanks for the opportunity to be part of Night Ministry’s mission to provide counseling, pastoral care and crisis intervention to those who are anxious, afraid, suffering or wondering. I’m also grateful for the programs that extend our mission farther and wider – our Open Cathedrals and Clinical Pastoral Education program; as well as our collaborations – Sacred Space–San Francisco and SF CARES, among others. It’s been an honor to serve these 14 years, first as an Assistant Night Minister, then as Night Minister beginning January 1, 2007. On August 31, 2018 I will retire joining with my colleagues Chuck Lewis and Don Fox as one of the Night Ministers Emeriti. I’m looking forward to spending time with family and pursuing other opportunities as they present themselves in the future.

In addition, Silvia Tiznado, our CPE Educator who recently announced her engagement to be married, will leave us in November to make her home in Arizona.

The Night Ministry Governing Board is in the process of interviewing and hiring the new team that will lead Night Ministry into its next chapter. I have the utmost confidence that they, along with our staff, Crisis Line Counselors and other volunteers will work together to ensure a successful transition, and that they will be eager to encourage and support the new staff when they are in place by September 1st.

For 54 years Night Ministry has been able to operate due to the generous donations of individuals, congregations, foundations and organizations that share a heart for our work and for the people we serve. My first invitation is that you consider making a generous donation now that will support us through this time of transition and allow us to plan sufficiently for the future.

My second invitation is that you join me in celebrating my retirement. Two events have been planned:

* High Tea at Trinity + St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 1620 Gough St. @ Bush, San Francisco on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

* Singing and Laughter at Encore Karaoke Lounge, 1550 California St. (upstairs), San Francisco on Friday, August 31 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

Tickets are available for both events through www.eventbrite.com:

Purchase tickets for High Tea   -   Purchase tickets for Karaoke Lounge Night

Please also consider a donation through our website: Make a Donation

Thank you for your faithful support in lightening the darkness and rekindling the hope, and for your good thoughts and prayers in this time of transition.
