2024, Jo Chadwick:
Joanne “Jo” Chadwick lifted the spirits of everyone whose life she touched. She was a towering and beloved figure in the formation of San Francisco Night Ministry, among the many activities dear to her. Jo's primary contribution to the Night Ministry was building our nightly telephone crisis line. As the first Coordinator of Crisis Line Counselors, Jo trained hundreds of volunteers. And she answered thousands of phone calls during the late night hours. She recalled numerous times dispatching the night minister to the Golden Gate Bridge to intervene and minister to someone who was contemplating taking their life. Jo firmly established the Crisis Line through years of heart-full service, and her experience would eventually support her work as the executive director of SF Suicide Prevention Line (now a national service). During Jo's time, the Crisis Line was staffed mainly with volunteers from the supporting churches. At times, the Crisis Line Counselors worked shifts to 6:00 AM in the small Night Ministry office space. Night Ministry continues to feel Jo's powerful and heart-full presence through her legacy. This year is Night Ministry's 60th anniversary! Thanks in no small part to Jo's firm foundation, Night Ministry still operates our nightly "life line" -- now called the Care Line. Every night we offer spiritual care, prayer, meditation, and most of, a listening presence who walks with others in their darkest hours. Your gift in memory of Jo Chadwick will help Night Ministry extend her heart of service into the future. Night Ministry is a small nonprofit that uses its modest budget to make a big impact in a city where Jo lived, worked, and served for many years -- San Francisco. Your gift will make a significant difference. Thank you! https://secure.givelively.org/donate/...
